How should I manage hours and attributes on my Google Business Profile?

Managing hours and attributes on your Google Business Profile keeps customers informed and supports local search visibility. Set accurate regular hours, override them with special (holiday) hours when needed, add service-specific hours for things like delivery or pickup, and keep your attributes current.

Setting regular opening hours

Open your profile from Google Search (Edit profile) or Google Maps (Business โ†’ Edit profile), go to the Hours section, and enter your open and close times for each day. For split hours (e.g., closed for lunch) add a second time slot for the day, then save.

Managing special and holiday hours

In the Hours tab, choose Special hours and add the holiday date. Either enter specific times if you're open, or mark it closed. This temporarily overrides your regular hours for that date only; afterwards, regular hours resume automatically.

Adding service-specific hours

For delivery, pickup or other services, use More hours and select the service type to set its time range. You must have primary hours set first; service-specific hours operate independently and appear separately to customers.

Editing attributes

Attributes (Wi-Fi, outdoor seating, wheelchair access and more) live under Edit profile โ†’ Business information โ†’ Attributes. Accurate attributes improve discoverability and set the right customer expectations. Review hours and attributes monthly, especially before seasonal changes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I set different hours for delivery and pickup?
Yes. Use the More hours feature to add separate time slots for each service type. These operate independently from your regular hours and let customers see exactly when you offer each service.
What happens if I set both regular and special hours for the same day?
Special hours override regular hours for that specific date. Once the date passes, your regular hours apply again automatically โ€” ideal for holidays or one-time events.
How often should I update my hours and attributes?
Check monthly, or whenever your schedule changes, and update attributes when you add services or facilities. Inaccurate information drives customers away and can harm your local ranking.
Can customers see all my service-specific hours in Google Maps?
Yes, if you've added them. Service hours (delivery, pickup, dine-in) appear separately in the Hours section, helping customers plan when to use each option.
